Getting started

Can I use my phone?

Yes. The web app is built to work on phone or desktop; most tradies use it on their phone on site. Open app.trade.renopro.au in Safari or Chrome, log in, and it works like a native app. You can add it to your home screen for one-tap access (tap Share in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen"). A dedicated iOS and Android app is on the roadmap.

How do I get the best estimate on my first quote?

The AI works from what you give it. The more context, the sharper the estimate. For the best results: - Upload clear photos of the job site from multiple angles - Include any plans or sketches, even rough ones - Fill in the job description with as much detail as you have: scope, access, condition of existing work, any known complications The AI reads all of this before estimating. A two-line job description will give you a rougher result than a detailed one.

How do I set up my margins and quote clauses?

Both live in Settings. Worth spending 5 minutes here before your first quote. Margins: set your default labour margin and materials margin. These are applied on top of the AI's base cost estimates to produce your quoted price. You can adjust margins per quote in the editor before sending. Quote clauses: standard terms that appear at the bottom of every quote (payment terms, warranty, liability). RenoPro includes sensible defaults. Edit or add your own in Settings to match how you operate. They save automatically and apply to every new quote.

What file types can I upload?

Photos: JPG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone photos work fine). Plans and drawings: PDF works best. The AI reads measurements and scope directly from PDF plans. If you only have a photo of a printed plan, that works too; just expect lower confidence on measurements. The more legible the plan, the better the result.

AI estimates

I ran the same job twice and got different results. Why?

That's normal, and it's worth understanding why. The AI that builds your estimate is generative: it doesn't look up a fixed price list. It reasons about your job from the photos, plans, and description you give it, and produces a draft. Because it's probabilistic rather than deterministic, two runs with the same inputs can produce slightly different outputs. Think of it like asking two experienced estimators to independently quote the same job; you'd expect similar numbers, not identical ones. A few things that increase variability: - Vague job descriptions: the AI fills gaps by making assumptions. Different assumptions produce different line items. - Low-quality or limited photos: less visual information means more guessing. - Jobs with complex or unusual scope: more ambiguity, more variation. How to reduce it: be specific in your description, upload good photos from multiple angles, and include plans if you have them. The more you give it, the tighter the result. We're also actively working to reduce variability over time. Every quote you edit feeds back into calibration, and we apply guardrails to keep estimates within sensible ranges for each trade and job type.

The estimate looks off. What should I do?

Edit it. The AI gives you a starting point; you have full control over every line item, hour count, and amount in the quote editor. If something is consistently off across multiple quotes, let us know. We use real quote data to calibrate the AI and your feedback is how it gets better. Contact: support@renopro.au

Why does the AI sometimes overestimate hours?

Two common reasons: 1. Scope classification: the AI defaults to full new-build labour hours unless it can clearly see the job is a renovation or cosmetic update. If you're doing an internal refit rather than a new build, say that explicitly in the job description: "internal renovation, existing structure retained." 2. Photos without context: if the AI can't tell from photos what's existing and what's new, it estimates conservatively (high). Plans with demolition markings or a clear scope description fix this. Each edit you make to the AI output feeds back into calibration over time.

Does the AI get better over time?

Yes. RenoPro learns from the difference between what the AI estimates and what you actually quote. Every time you adjust a line item, that signal helps calibrate future estimates for your trade and region. The more you use it, the more the estimates reflect how you actually price work.

Quotes and variations

How do I raise a variation?

Open the accepted quote and click "Raise Variation." Describe the scope change and add line items manually or let the AI price it. The variation goes to your client for digital approval. Once approved, it locks in and rolls into the final invoice automatically. Every variation is timestamped so you always have a paper trail.

Can my client sign off on the quote digitally?

Yes. When you send a quote, your client receives a link where they can review the full quote and accept it digitally with a timestamp. No printing, no scanning. The same applies to variations.

How do I send a quote to a client?

From the quote editor, click "Send Quote." Your client receives a professional PDF by email with a link to review and accept it online. Once sent, the status changes to Sent and you'll be notified when the client views it.

Pricing and account

What does the Pro plan include?

Pro gives you 50 quotes per month, full AI estimating, variation management, digital acceptance, invoicing, and Xero integration. If you go over 50 quotes in a month, additional quotes are $0.50 each. No per-seat pricing. Pro covers you as a sole trader or small crew.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 30 days free, full Pro access, no credit card required at signup. At the end of the trial you can subscribe or your account moves to limited access. Pilot program participants get 3 months free.
